Project Description
Canebrake is Design Class A speculative office building for the growing airport market in Flowood, Mississippi. The building’s look is designed to be upscale corporate with playful detail elements, such as the roof canopy, a membrane stretched over ribs to evoke the memory of old canvas wings of early 1900s airplanes. The client’s use of sophisticated equipment required special lighting, electrical connections and controls.
The common spaces are finished in stained cherry millwork, imported wall coverings, custom draperies and terrazzo floors to compliment the aggregates in the building’s exterior pre-cast concrete panels. The lobby’s centerpiece is a glass wall fabricated from space-age glass and steel. The building is entered through a grand portico with custom-fabricated brass, glass and stainless steel doors, in addition to the custom light fixtures and a contemporary interpretation of a Corinthian column capitol.
