The Clarion Ledger, Gannett Company, Inc.

Jackson, MS

Project Description

The Clarion-Ledger, “Mississippi’s newspaper,” has been printing a quality newspaper for years in the face of numerous challenges posed by a cramped urban site and a physical plant made up four different buildings of varying age and condition. JBHM met extensively with all levels of corporate and local management to synthesize the Clarion-Ledger’s needs and the opportunities and limitations of the site.
JBHM designed the project in multiple phases so space was constructed or renovated, furnishings and equipment installed, staff rotated into new work stations, critical systems were kept online, while at the same time, on the same site, the newspaper was produced and distributed every day without fail.
The new “front door” is an important feature of Jackson’s Congress Street corridor improvements, eloquent testimony of the Clarion-Ledger’s role in the civic life and urban revitalization of Jackson.
