Project Description
Built in the 1960’s, JBHM was commissioned to renovate this project in 1996 to reorganize the building,
provide additional spaces according to program, and change the entire character of the exterior to be more sensitive to context on the MUW campus. Additionally, the design was to consider a future addition to compliment the campus master plan.
A new curving glass covered entry was provided. The existing two story rear porch was partially enclosed as an expansion to the gallery and a clear story was installed to allow natural light reflecting down into the gallery space. All studios were arranged to receive natural light. The existing roof was converted to a third floor which housed all faculty offices/studios and permanent collection storage.
