Because the demand for hematology and oncology services continues to grow nationwide, as well as in their service area, the management of Hematology & Oncology Associates saw a need for additional space. The new facility, located at 961 South Gloster Street, the former home of Food World Supermarket, provides 51,000 square feet of patient care space and state of the art technology for evaluation and treatment of patients. It is less than one-fourth mile from its previous home at the North Mississippi Medical Center.
The former Food World Supermarket has been transformed into one of the largest cancer care facilities in the Southeast, and it provides space for patients and their families to receive outpatient cancer care in comfortable surroundings. It includes 30 chemo-therapy bays, 17 private patient rooms, three waiting areas to accommodate at least 300 patients, an in-house pharmacy and a snack area.
