Project Description

The idea behind the project was to design a space that reflects knowledge, imagination, and eliminates boundaries both literally, and visually.  To help do this we created an approach sequence that screens the view of the building until the last moment in order to build anticipation. Upon arrival to the building
drawbridge like canopies create a transition from the outside by penetrating through the building’s glass skin. The canopies serve functionally, as protection, but also metaphorically to blur the boundary that might suggest where “inside” actually occurs.  Once inside walls become floors and ceilings become walls reiterating the intention to eliminate boundaries. Boundaries limit dreams, and the longer we can encourage our children to dream, the less they might become restricted by conventions.
