Project Description
The Nursing School at MUW had been operating in classrooms that were cramped due to large columns that were placed in the middle of rooms in this building, which is on the historic register. They desired an updated facility to give their department a cohesive structure, as well as the proper image and credibility. JBHM gutted the interior of Martin Hall and brought the building up to code, as well as adding two emergency stair towers and removing the interior columns. This allowed for large, flexible classrooms. Each degree program, Associate, Bachelor and Master, were then able to occupy a separate floor, which gave the departments their own identity, while allowing them to be conveniently located in the same building. Faculty offices were also added to two wings of the building. They are directly across from classroom space for added convenience.
