Project Description
The Hancock County Port and Harbor Comission and Stennis International Airport selected JBHM Architects and Neel-Schaffer Inc., to design a new terminal building with an adjacent hanger facility. This project is funded through a combination of grants including the Community Development Block Grants program. Stennis International Airport has the second longest runway in the state (8,500 feet) and over 340,000 square feet of surfaced aprons and taxiways, including a maintenance and storage hanger. Owned and operated by the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission, Stennis began as a general commercial airport in 1970. Currently Stennis provides a passenger terminal, aircraft fueling, tie down and hangar space, aircraft maintenance, air charter, student flight training, as well as other amenities.
