The Stone County Board of Supervisors chose JBHM Architects to incorporate FEMA 361 Shelters into a number of school properties in the Wiggins, Mississippi area. There are five FEMA 361 storm shelters in Wiggins, Ms but four of them are located on the Stone County school district campuses. Each of these storm shelters are 5,000 sf or less and can hold up to 360 people. Each facility includes basic storage rooms, men & women restrooms, hvac, electrical equipment, generator and one large blast resistant front window. Each stand alone facility can be self supported up to 36 hours with underground equipment such as water tanks, septic tanks and gas tanks. These facilities meet all of the MEMA/ FEMA 361 wind & debris requirements. Funding for the projects was provided by MEMA/ FEMA Katrina fund.
